We were commissioned to look at the feasibility and design of a family annexe within an existing dwelling in Heswall, Wirral. As with many families, elderly relatives or returning university graduates often means some creative solution is required to make things work at home!

Our brief was to create a distinctly separate but easily accessible living area for a relative, but to also replace the lost floor area elsewhere within the development proposal. One of the most pleasing aspects to this property were the amazing panoramic views out over the Dee Estuary over to North Wales and up towards Hilbre Islands and beyond, therefore we wanted to make the most of this great feature of the location.

The proposal has given them an annexe to the ground floor, comprising a bedroom which opens out to the rear garden terrace, a living area with kitchenette and a generous bathroom and dressing area. Upstairs, we carried out extensive remodelling to give them an impressive master suite, a redesigned, reconfigured hallway and a large upstairs lounge. Both the master suite and the upstairs lounge enjoy wide ranging, extensive panoramic views of the Dee Estuary.
